Why can't you wrap cheese in plastic?

Nowadays, many people pack the cheese in the same way: using plastic to wrap. It seems natural to wrap cheese, however, it is not suitable for using plastic wrap. 

The reasons you shouldn't wrap cheese in plastic are as followed:

First of all, because the cheese is made mostly of grease, it can absorb chemicals and flavors from the plastic wrapper. Plastic is inedible, so you really don't want to be eating toxins and mysterious compounds leaching from the plastic wrapper.

Besides, any form of tight packaging can promote the growth of bacteria, not just the bacteria inherent in cheese. These bacteria will make the taste bad, but also cause food safety problems.

Lastly, wrapping cheese in plastic doesn't allow the natural gases, such as ammonia, to escape from the cheese's surface. In this way, they will pile up and linger in your favorite snacks.

Instead of putting cheese in plastic wrap before putting it in the fridge, it is suggested that choose another kind of packaging.

It is best to use wax paper and aluminum foil because they both retain the moisture of the cheese without drying out the surface-they allow air to circulate the cheese.
